As the appointed structural engineers for the project, JSBC Consulting was tasked with delivering an innovative, highly efficient structural system tailored specifically to the unique demands of a modern childcare centre.

1. Maximizing Open-Plan Learning Spaces
The success of a childcare facility relies heavily on unobstructed sightlines for educators and wide-open spaces for children to play and learn safely.
To achieve this, our team engineered an optimized structural grid utilizing long-span steel and concrete elements. By pushing the load-bearing requirements to the perimeter of the building, we minimized the need for many internal columns. This structural strategy directly enabled the architect’s vision of a seamless, open-plan indoor environment that flows effortlessly into the outdoor play areas.
