Engineering for Healthcare: Campbelltown Hospital Upgrade

The $632 million Campbelltown Hospital development is a monumental Tier-1 infrastructure project, delivering a state-of-the-art new clinical services building and a significantly expanded Emergency Department for the Macarthur region. As part of this major public sector upgrade, JSBC Consulting was engaged to provide specialized structural engineering for the hospital’s internal fit-outs and rigorous structural reviews for its exterior signage.

Working within major hospital developments requires strict adherence to stringent healthcare guidelines, vibration limits, and public safety standards.

1. Clinical & Emergency Fit-Out Engineering

Modern hospital interiors demand rigorous structural coordination to safely support complex architectural layouts, high-capacity patient wards, and heavy essential services. We engineered the robust structural supports required to safely deliver the highly technical fit-out of Campbelltown Hospital’s new clinical and emergency spaces.

2. Structural Adequacy & Signage Review

For a sprawling hospital campus, clear, large-scale exterior direction finding is vital. However, attaching massive signage to a newly constructed hospital facade introduces significant wind-load and structural risks.

Serving as the structural authority for these elements, JSBC conducted detailed reviews of the proposed exterior signage. We verified the structural adequacy of the steel frameworks and their connection points to the primary building envelope. This ensured the large-scale installations were fully compliant with wind-load requirements, guaranteeing public safety without compromising the hospital’s weatherproofing or facade integrity.
